Following a recent update to Discover accounts, some users have noticed duplicate Discover accounts appearing in their Empower Personal Dashboard. This results in a "new" account that is a duplicate of the "old" account.
To fix this, you'll need to mark the "old" account as closed, using the date when the "new" account was added as the close date. Before you begin, please have the following information ready:
- Identify which account is the "old" account.
- Determine the date that the "new" account was created.
To get started, follow these steps:
- First, click on one of the duplicated Discover accounts in your Empower Personal Dashboard.
- When the account data loads, click the Pencil Icon to open the Edit Account window.
- In the window that appears, note down the Date Linked.
- Do the same for both Discover accounts.
The account with the more recent Date is the "new" account. Edit the "old" account by clicking the pencil icon once more, then click "Mark as Closed". Enter the Date Linked value for the "new" account in the "Mark as closed as of" field and click the red "Mark as Closed" button.
Marking the account as closed, rather than deleting the old account, will preserve the historical data for that account while eliminating the duplicated data created when the new account was linked.
If you encounter any errors, please Contact Us and let us know the last 4 digits of the duplicated accounts so we may investigate further.
