With the Split Transaction feature, you can indicate how much of each transaction was used for various categories and see exactly how your money is moving. At this time, the Split Transaction feature is only available on the Web version of your dashboard, so any split transaction changes made will not be reflected in the mobile app version of your dashboard. This can have an effect on how your cash flow graphs appear between the two application versions.
Please note that you cannot split transactions in Investment accounts. Also you cannot split a transaction and use a category-type that differs from the original one (example: a transaction with an 'income' category cannot be split into 'expense' or 'transfer' categories.)
To get started, locate the transaction you want to split in your Transactions list and click 'Split Transaction' as shown below:
You will then be presented with a pop-up window where you can edit the Category, Tags, and Amount for each split. You can split any transaction up to 5 times, as long as the total original amount is assigned and the Amount remaining to be assigned is equal to $0:
Once you are done splitting your transaction, scroll down within the window and click 'Save'.
The updated transaction splits will now show in your dashboard listed under the full original amount:
Changing the categories on these transactions may have an impact on your Cash Flow and Performance calculations so be sure to take this into consideration before making any changes.
