You can delete any linked account from your list in Empower Personal Dashboard. Once you delete an account, all the transactions and data associated with the account will be removed and cannot be restored.
If you wish to close an account, and retain the historical data, please refer to our article on marking accounts as closed.
The specific steps for deleting an account are listed below. This will only delete the account you complete this action for and not the other accounts linked under that financial institution.
You will need to scroll down to the appropriate account-type sub-section (i.e. 'Cash' for your banking accounts, 'Credit' for your credit cards, etc.), then hover over the listing (after it is done refreshing) for the 'pencil' icon to appear. You can then click on the pencil icon to edit the account.
Web Application:
- Identify the account in question in the account list on the left-hand side and click the 'pencil' icon next to the account name.
- Click on 'Remove account' in the bottom left-hand corner of the pop-up window that appears.
- Confirm you would like to remove/delete the account in the confirmation window by clicking the red 'Remove' button.
iOS/Android:
- Tap on the account you want to remove/delete.
- Tap on the 'pencil' icon to the right of the account name.
- Scroll down and tap on 'Remove'.
- Confirm you would like to remove/delete the account in the confirmation window by clicking the 'Remove' option.
If you have any issues following the above steps, we would recommend clicking on the 'Overview' tab at the top of the dashboard (via a web browser) and choosing the 'Net Worth' option in the dropdown menu. Your account list will then populate in the middle panel and you can click on the appropriate account.
Once you choose the account, the account summary will populate in the middle panel and you can then click on the 'pencil' icon next to the account name. From the pop-up window you can then click on 'Remove account' and confirm your choice to remove the account.
Please note that once you delete an account, all the transactions and data associated with the account will be removed and cannot be restored.
