Delete or Remove a Custom Category

To delete or remove a custom category, follow the specific instructions below for the appropriate web or mobile device your are using. Please note that once a custom category is deleted, all the transactions assigned to this category will be reverted to their original categories. Default categories can be edited but never deleted.

 

Web:

  1. Click on the specific transaction that contains the custom category you want to remove.
  2. Click on the category dropdown menu and click on 'Manage categories'.
  3. You can then find the custom category you created under the appropriate transaction type (Income, Expense or Other).
  4. Click on the category name you created, and a pop-up window will appear and then click on 'Remove'.
  5. You will be asked to verify if you wish to delete the category. If you are sure, click on 'Remove' again.
  6. The custom category will then be removed and all transactions that previously had the custom category listed will revert back to their default categories.

iOS:

  1. Tap on the specific transaction that contains the custom category you want to remove.
  2. Tap on the transaction 'Category'.
  3. Tap on 'Edit' in the top right-hand corner and then choose the custom category you wish to delete.
  4. Select 'Delete category'.
  5. You will then be asked to verify if you wish to delete the category. If you are sure, click on 'Delete category' again.
  6. The custom category will then be removed and all transactions that previously had the custom category listed will revert back to their default categories.

Android:

  1. Tap on the specific transaction that contains the custom category you want to remove.
  2. Tap on the transaction 'Category'.
  3. Select 'Manage categories' and tap the category you wish to delete.
  4. On the next screen you can click on 'Delete category'.
  5. You will then be asked to verify if you wish to delete the category. If you are sure, click on 'Delete category' again.
  6. The custom category will then be removed and all transactions that previously had the custom category listed will revert back to their default categories.
