How to Enable Mobile Authentication:
First, you must have a mobile device with the Empower Personal Dashboard App. Only one device can be registered per user for Mobile Authentication at a time, so choose a device carefully.
Registering using Web:
- Log in to Empower Personal Dashboard
- In your Settings, scroll down to Security Settings
- Next to Mobile App App Verification, select Register
- You will be required to enter your Empower Personal Dashboard Password to proceed.
- Using your mobile device, sign in to the Empower Personal Dashboard App
- Still on the Mobile Device, navigate to Settings->Account->Mobile App Verification
- Enter your password
- Tap "register this device"
- Tap "Scan QR Code"
- Use your device to scan the QR code presented on the web page
Registering using Mobile App (this requires two different devices: one for verification, one for logging in, ie logging in on an iPad and verifying with an iPhone):
- Launch the Empower Personal Dashboard App
- Navigate to Settings->Account->Mobile App Verification
- Enter your password
- Tap "Show QR Code"
- Using the mobile device you are registering for verification, sign in to the Empower Personal Dashboard App
- On the same device from Step 5, navigate to Settings->Account->Mobile App Verification
- Enter your password
- Tap "register this device"
- Tap "Scan QR Code"
- Use your device to scan the QR code presented on the web page
Once the device is registered you will be shown three recovery codes. These will only be shown once, so note them down somewhere safe in case you lose your device and need to recover access to your account.
We recommend enabling push notifications for Empower Personal Dashboard on your mobile device: this will allow you to approve or deny account access from your device without having to enter the code.
Disabling:
You can disable TOTP from your Settings in your Empower Personal Dashboard. Under Authorized Devices, identify which device is currently authorized, then click "Edit". In the window that appears, select "Remove" to remove the device. You can identify which device is currently used for authentication by the blue icon next to the device name:
