We are aware of ongoing issues with linking Nelnet accounts to the Empower Personal Dashboard. Our aggregation team has been trying to work with the team at Nelnet to lift the block on the IP ranges used for our aggregation, however there does not appear to be a resolution in sight. Nelnet has indicated that they do not wish to engage with 3rd party aggregation, and unfortunately we will not be able to automatically update Nelnet accounts at this time.
We recommend adding the account to your dashboard as a Manual account. While it will not update automatically, you will still be able to update the balance and maintain a complete view of your net worth.
First, create a manual account following the steps outlined here: How To Create A Manual Account.
Once the account is created in your dashboard, mark your Nelnet account as closed, using the date that you create the manual account as the close date. We recommend closing the account over deleting the account as this maintains the historical data of the account. If you delete your Nelnet account, we will not be able to recover that data.
